Creative Worker Visa

Creative Worker Visa

This visa is for individuals offered work in the UK's creative industries by a licensed sponsor. Applicants must make a unique contribution to the sector and meet the minimum pay requirements set by bodies such as Equity, PACT, or BECTU.

Up to 12 months

Duration: Creative Workers can stay in the UK for up to 12 months or for the duration stated on their Certificate of Sponsorship plus up to 28 days, whichever is shorter.

Government Authorised Exchange Visa

Government Authorised Exchange Visa

This route is for individuals coming to the UK under approved exchange schemes to share skills, knowledge, and best practices while experiencing UK culture and society.

12 or 24 months
You may qualify if you are coming to the UK for:
  • Work experience or training
  • An Overseas Government Language Programme
  • Research or a fellowship under an approved exchange scheme

You must be sponsored by a licensed UK organisation, and your work or research must align with your sponsor's activities. Depending on the scheme, this visa allows a stay of 12 or 24 months.

International Agreement Worker Visa

International Agreement Worker Visa

This visa applies to individuals whose work in the UK is governed by international law. This includes working for foreign governments, international organisations, or providing services under specific international agreements.

6-24 months
You may be eligible if:
  • Your role is covered by GATS or similar trade agreements
  • You are working for an overseas government or international organisation
  • You are employed as a private servant in a diplomatic or international household

Length of stay varies by role. Those working for a foreign government or in a diplomatic household may stay up to 2 years. Contractual service suppliers may stay for 6 months in any 12-month period, or longer if covered by specific UK-EU or UK-Switzerland agreements.

Charity Worker Visa

This visa is for overseas nationals undertaking unpaid, temporary voluntary work for a registered UK charity.

Up to 12 months

The maximum stay permitted is 12 months. This visa is specifically for unpaid voluntary work with registered charities.

Religious Worker Visa

Religious Worker Visa

This route is for individuals coming to the UK to carry out religious duties such as preaching, pastoral work, or work within a religious order.

Up to 24 months

Important: Unlike the Charity Worker Visa, holders of this visa may be paid. The visa is valid for up to 24 months.

Seasonal Worker Visa

Seasonal Worker Visa

The Seasonal Worker Visa allows foreign nationals to work in UK agriculture for up to 6 months. This includes farm work such as harvesting or packaging produce.

Restrictions:
  • Seasonal Workers may only work in the role stated on their Certificate of Sponsorship
  • Cannot take a second job or permanent employment
  • Applicants under this route are exempt from paying the immigration health surcharge

Youth Mobility Scheme

Youth Mobility Visa

The Youth Mobility Visa is available to young people from specific countries and territories, including Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and others.

Up to 2 years
Key Features:
  • Allows a stay of up to 2 years and cannot be extended
  • Applicants do not need a job offer
  • Home country acts as the sponsor
  • Dependants are not permitted under this route
  • Successful applicants receive a reduced immigration health surcharge

Eligibility requirements for UK Temporary Worker Visas

Eligibility depends on the specific Temporary Worker category. In most cases, you must have a licensed UK sponsor who issues a Certificate of Sponsorship.

Financial Requirement:

You must also show you can support yourself financially, usually by holding at least £1,270 in your bank account for 28 consecutive days within 31 days of applying.

Note: While most routes require a job offer and sponsorship, applicants under the Youth Mobility Scheme from eligible countries can apply without one.
