Minister of Religion Visa UK

The UK Minister of Religion Visa allows ministers and religious workers in pastoral roles to live and work in the UK for up to three years and one month, with the option to extend for a further three years. This visa can also lead to settlement and, eventually, British citizenship.

Important: This visa is designed for religious leaders and pastoral workers who have been offered a role by a UK religious organization that holds a valid sponsor licence.

What is a Minister of Religion Visa in UK?

If you have been offered a role by a religious organisation or institution in the UK, you may apply for a Minister of Religion Visa.

The T2 Minister of Religion Visa enables overseas nationals to enter and reside in the UK to carry out duties such as those of a minister, missionary, or religious worker. Once approved, the visa is granted for a period of three years and one month.

Key Responsibilities Allowed:

  • Leading worship services
  • Delivering sermons and religious teachings
  • Officiating weddings and funerals
  • Organising missionary activities
  • Translating religious texts
  • Coordinating volunteers and community outreach

After five years of lawful residence in the UK under this route, you may become eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).

Note: If your role mainly involves non-pastoral duties, such as administrative or clerical work within a faith-based organisation, the UK Religious Worker Visa may be more appropriate.
